Physical dimensions need traceable semantics. Here is what ships in the catalog and what was rejected.
Primary source
Transport Canada Canadian Vehicle Specifications (CVS), 2021 English CSV. The public dataset is designed for vehicle safety research and collision reconstruction and supplies overall length, overall width, overall height and wheelbase.

Width semantics
The source field is OW — Overall Width, in centimetres. The retained catalog values match vehicle body widths; exterior-mirror width is not included or supplied. We label every record “overall body width; mirrors excluded” and never mix it with mirror-to-mirror width.
The site compares Canadian-market specifications. It does not silently claim equivalence with European-market variants. Generation labels show the year in which Transport Canada’s dimensions were compiled.
Curation report
Snapshot rows: 1,024. Final catalog: 240 complete records across 31 makes. Five rows lacked a required dimension, six had implausible or contradictory dimensions, and 81 duplicate dimensional variants were collapsed before balanced curation.
A Mercedes-Benz EQS record with an impossible 2,930 mm width was rejected. Trim duplicates sharing identity and geometry were collapsed. The complete machine-readable report and every retained record’s source row are stored with the project.
Why not AutoSeeker?
AutoSeeker Open Car Data was independently checked: 281 models, JSON and CSV, CC BY 4.0, commercial and derivative reuse allowed with credit to autoseeker.eu. Its current export has length, width and height—but no wheelbase—so it was not used for production geometry.
Six prominent catalog records were manually cross-checked against their source rows: Golf, Model Y, Model 3, Q5, RAV4 and CR-V. Values remain indicative manufacturer/original-database specifications, not physical measurements by this site.
